President Lyndon B. Johnson and Rev. Dr. Marti...

Is it a coincidence that this month we remember Martin Luther King, Jr., the court case Roe vs. Wade, and the anniversary of the swearing-in of the President Barack Obama?  I believe God is showing us that there is much work to be done.  The “Dream” of King spoke of the equality of all regardless of skin color, and it would seem that having a black President would be an indication that the dream has been brought to fruition. Progress has been made in achieving the “Dream”, but let us not fool ourselves.  We are not free.

I use “we” because the celebration of Martin Luther King’s legacy involves ALL Americans.  As long as oppression still occurs, regardless of where it occurs, humanity remains “enslaved”.  The Civil Rights movement was not just a Black movement but a human one.  Blacks were the oppressed and blacks and others saw the injustice and responded.

In 1973, Roe vs. Wade legalized abortion in this country and enabled a new group of people to be oppressed: the unborn.  People who recognize the essence of the Civil Rights Movement see Roe v. Wade as a threat to those same rights.  Dr. Alveda King, niece of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said it best when asked if the Pro-life Movement reminded her of the Civil Rights Movement.  Dr. Alveda King responded :  the Pro-life Movement is the Civil Rights Movement (cf: How Can The Dream Survive, If We Kill The Children).

ABORTION // Fetus & Moron

Barack Obama refuses to protect the unborn and therefore separates himself from the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This is not just one issue.  Life is a foundational issue that must be protected.  Adhering to MLK’s message of going past skin color, we must too get past skin color in our evaluation of the President.  The very thing that Obama is championing, reproductive choice, is the means through which the murderous and racist agenda is subtly advanced. Ever heard of Margaret Sanger? Abortion and artificial birth control were originally means through which the “unfit” could be controlled and decreased.

We are not free yet.  As long as babies are being murdered in the womb, especially in disproportionate percentages amongst African-Americans, how could we be?  To quote Alveda King: “How can the dream survive if we kill the children?” Please pray for our nation.
